Some people are deterred from therapy due to the associations of a stern therapist, the idea of laying on a leather couch, and the thought of long uncomfortable silences, but a lot has changed over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therapy can give you the opportunity to have a space that is not replicated in any other environment in life; talking to friends about problems can be helpful, but a therapist is specially trained to help you to understand yourself, your psychological processes, and your behaviours better. This might include discovering where a problem started, why you may continue to repeat an unhelpful behaviour, and to safely explore difficult emotions. A good therapist will also always ensure that the priority of the sessions is your wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am trained to work in three evidence-based modalities; psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and dynamic interperson therapy. I often like to use elements of each depending on how my clients would like to work with me, resulting somewhere between a focused, goal-oriented therapy, and a more in-depth, explorative and analytic approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a nutshell, my personal therapeutic approach is pragmatic, compassionate, and individually-tailored.
